HALLO FÜSTERS!
By now you should have already seen the game results from last night but in case you didn’t go over to the Bestenliste, let GG sum things up here:
This year there were 7 (count ‘em, SEVEN) players who earned the designation of Bestenfüste (these players scored every possible point):
Barn Owl
Binturong
Eurasian Wolf
Frost Cricket
Mink
Panda
Ringtail
Some interesting facts about these players . . .
This is the second Bestenfüste title earned by Barn Owl (in just the past two years). She is now part of a very elite club of Füsters who have won two titles (only two other players have achieved this).
Something that’s never happened before, we had not just one but two power couples finish as Bestenfi: E. Wolf & Panda and Binturong & Mink.
We had three Neo-Füsters (first time Füsters) finish in 1st place: Binturong, Mink and Ringtail
Frost Cricket finally won here first Bestenfüste title after being on the bubble for multiple years!
Title of BESTEN-NEOFÜSTE goes to Ringtail, who not only held the highest number of solo days in first place but wass also the ONLY player to have sat in first place on any given day of Winterfüste.
Remember, every player who finished will have earned at the very least a Blue Campaign Ribbon signifying you completed an entire Winterfüste event. Other ribbons will be rewarded based on overall ranking and other accomplishments, like a Podium Finish, Top 10, Top 25, Top 50, Top 100 (NA for WF24), etc. GG will be reaching out individually this week to let you know what you earned!
HAUS GAME PLAY
Last night, GG erroneously reported Bärenhaus for the Bestenhaus win but this was a premature call! Turns out that after weight loss was factored in (and some late reports), Wienerhuas is our BESTENHAUS for WF24 (sorry, Bärenhaus, GG didn’t mean to fake you out like that!)
For the first time in a century, we have new Haus Proktors to report:
Bärenhaus: Proktor Ringtail
Drachenhaus: Proktor Mink
Skorpionhaus: Proktor Skunk
Wienerhaus: Proktor Panda
Wolfshaus: Proktor Eurasian Wolf
NOW IT’S TIME FOR SOME STATISTICS!
DISTANCE TRAVELED
TRUE: 13,301 miles, or roughly 53% around the circumference of the of Earth or the distance from San Francisco to Cairo, taking a direct line of sight route across the Pacific and the Far East. Or another way to think of it would be that we collectively walked/ran/cycled/swum/rowed from SF to Boston and back to SF twice and then once more to Boston. So we effectivley crossed the United States FIVE TIMES.
SUPPLEMENTED: 18,122 miles if we include spinning at an average of 13mph . . . so that SEVEN TIMES across the US.
DISTANCE TOTALS
Cycling: 2865 miles
Walking/Hiking: 7259 miles
Running: 3043 miles
Swimming: 108,067 yards or 61 miles
Rowing: 118,699 meters or 73 miles
Spinning: 22,251 minutes or 370 hours
SCHMERZENFÜSTE CHAMPIONS

Walking/Hiking: Long Tailed Weasel (314 miles)
Running: Binturong (333 miles)
Swimming: Frost Cricket (15775 yards)
Rowing: Grolarbär (45000 meters)
Spinning: Eurasian Wolf (35 hours)
WEIGHT LOST
Total for all Füsters who reported their weight loss: 529 pounds of flank meat
Average amount of flank meat lost per Füster: 12 pounds
Top 3 Füsters:
Eurasian Wolf: 30 pounds
Panda: 28 pounds
Polecat: 21 pounds

Well, that’s it, Füsters. Another game is in the books. That makes eight years in a row that we’ve completed Winterfüste since reintroducing the Füste to modern culture. GG does note that we started with 120 players this year and we only finished with just over 50, which is a significant increase in player drops then in past years. GG will have to do some digging to source out what’s happened there. Some good news, GG is closer then he’s ever been to legitimizing the Füste with a real app and servers and the whole thing so hopefully by next year he can offer you a more controlled (from a reporting, rewards and data perspective) and entertaining experience. As always, one of the biggest takeaways should be that you can really do anything you set your mind to . . . many Füsters this year didn’t think they were capable of walking 10 miles or slaying their Drachen but they did (and surprised themselves in the process). Now the challenge to you is to not let this be a one off for 2024 but actually be the starting point for you to keep moving forward with some of the good habits you’ve forced yourself into over the last 10 weeks. Are you going to continue to completely avoid sugar and alcohol? For most players, the answer is no. But can you make a deal with yourself and say you’ll keep alcohol to the weekends and maybe sugar once a week? That might be a good bridge from Winterfüste back to reality. But the one thing you can certainly continue to do is finding the time to be active and exercise. You just did it for almost every day since the New Year. There’s no reason you can’t continue that hard earned trend. Just that alone will increase your health and well being ten fold so do your best to stay the course. Remember, you’ll have much more success with preplanning your week and providing structure for yourself. Keep doing stairs. Keep going for long wogs. Earn a Singelt everyday if you can. And we’ll see you again down the road, maybe sooner than you think if GG can muster the fortitude to introduce his vision of “maintenance Füsting”. We’ll see what happens. As always though, GG just wants to thank all of you for the dedication and commitment you showed over the last ten weeks, not just to the game but to yourself. Ultimately, the Füste is all about you, designed for you, lovingly curated so that you can be the best version of yourself possible. GG hopes you got a bit of that out of this Winterfüste and that you have an incredibly successful 2024. Please take care of yourselves and stay safe out there and maybe we’ll see you on the Spielbrett again later this year.
As always, may the Füste be ever with you.
