WEEK 1: The Game Begins!

Evening Füsters!

The Game Intro period is closing out tonight and you should now have a basic idea of what Füsting looks like. We’ll now start layering on the activities that will drive the battle against your flank meat and help you maintain consistency and accountability.

In addition to the daily game play of Foodenfüste (no sugar), Drunkenfüste (no alcohol), Schmerzenfüste (exercise), and Hausaufgaben (Homework), Week 1 will introduce one more basic weekly game concept:

  • Fastentag . . . this is the one where each week you get really hangry and irritated on Mondays. Starting tomorrow (Jan. 5th), the weekly fasting requirement of WF26 kicks in. The first three fasts (Mondays for the next three weeks) will be an easy dawn to dusk affair where you’ll be limited to clear liquids only (yes, coffee is allowed if you must) from sun-up to sun-down (e.g. Northern California is roughly 07:30am to 5:05pm, Southern California is 06:45am to 4:50pm etc.). You’ll report successful completion of your fast the next day on Tuesday’s Daily Reporting Tool. Complete all nine Fastentags and you’ll earn a hefty +15p “Hungry Ghost” Completion Bonus at the end of the game!

Now for this week’s game update:

  • First and foremost, it seems that not everyone tracked that the Bonus activities listed for this weekend (3 mile Long Winter Wog, 10 flights of stairs and 1 mile for time) were only available through today. GG doesn’t want to unduly punish any player for an early mistake so he’s going to allow those who didn’t get the three bonuses completed by tonight to do them during Week 1 (in addition to Week 1’s Bonuses). Complicating factor here will be you will not see those specific bonuses available on the Daily Reporting Tool past today’s date so you’ll have to tell GG when you do them and he’ll add the points manually for you. Not a big deal. You don’t have to do this at all but if you didn’t mean to already be down in points after only three days of game play, here’s a way to fix it. This will be the only time GG does something like this during Winterfüste 2026 so take advantage of his generosity (as needed). Just reach out to GG if you’re going to take him up on this offer.

  • Another issue has been raised by several Füsters who have pointed out the financial limitation of attending yoga classes out in the world. Trust GG when he says he gets it. Nothing is cheap or seemingly affordable these days. So he’s going to allow “home yoga” for the Yoga Side Quest but with one caveat and that is you will absolutely need to provide heart rate data as proof AND that data must show a decent amount of cardiac strain. The issue with home yoga in past games is that GG sees heart rates not even getting out of the double digits while players sit on the floor and stretch. That’s not the intent here so make sure that you pick a moderate to difficult home yoga class to do and that if pushes you physically. HR data that shows an average rate of like 79bpm will mean you did not complete this Side Quest.

  • Regarding your daily exercise requirement, couple things:

    • So yes, you can reduce the daily Singelt walk requirement from 4 miles to 3 miles by carrying 15 pounds. No, you cannot use this advantage when completing any distance based Bonus (e.g., you cannot reduce the Long Winter Wog or Park Hike mileage by carrying the extra weight).

    • If you are going to strap on 15 pounds for a walk, help GG out by adding a little detail to your STRAVA activity title like “Weighted Walk” and that way GG won’t question why you only walked 3.1 miles instead of the full 4. Makes sense?

    • If you post your daily workouts to STRAVA, there’s no need to text GG proof too as he will see it on the Club feed. You only have to text GG proof if your exercise isn’t posted to STRAVA (which is perfectly fine to do for those who aren’t signing up for a STRAVA account) or it’s required for a Bonus or Side Quest.

    • Be aware that GG has noticed several players are unintentionally double posting workouts on STRAVA. This is most likely due to you having two or more source devices connected to the same STRAVA account (e.g. using your iPhone and HR monitor tracking the same workout). Why does GG care? This double posting will both skew your personal accumulated data each week and also mess up the total accumulated data for the entire game. So if you notice a workout has shown up twice in your STRAVA feed, please delete one of the two instances. Danke!

    • And lastly, one last gentle reminder to not cheat yourself: if a Singelt parameter says do something for an hour then you need to do the full hour (not 54 minutes). Same for distance; if you need to run 3 miles or walk 4 miles, make sure you do the complete distance.

  • Why am I not on the Bestenliste? An infrequently asked question but it does get asked. The primary reason is that you forgot to report that day OR you put the wrong date for your report; if GG does not receive a report for any specific date, you will not show up on that night’s Bestenliste. It’s just how the system works (and is a good reminder for you to make sure you report each day). But not to worry, you’ll be back the next night (unless you mess the date up again!).

And finally, here’s a simple game play summary for Week 1:

  • Daily exercise requirement = Singelts only.

  • Bonuses (go here for full details):

    • Long Winter Wog - 4 Miles

    • So Many Stairs - 20 Flights

    • Park Hike #1 - 4 Miles

  • Side Quests (go here for full details):

    • Lucky Friend Gift #1

    • Yoga Class

Alright, that’s more than enough from GG! Have a great Week 1 and as always, may the Füste be with you!
